Former President Muhammadu Buhari has called on leaders at all levels of governance to ensure transparency and accountability in their dealings. Buhari was speaking over the weekend at the Presidential Banquet Hall, Government House, Katsina State, during a stakeholders’ meeting of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the February 15 council polls in the state.
The ex-leader, who recently returned from Paris, France on an official assignment, stressed that the principles were fundamental to earning respect and maintaining political popularity among constituents.
Governor Dikko Radda, on his part, said the state was committed to conducting a transparent poll, even as he directed APC stakeholders to mobilise electoral support across the state to boost the party candidates’ chances during the election.
He stressed the importance of achieving total victory through popular votes, while ensuring transparent electoral processes, adding, “We are committed to conducting elections that reflect the true will of the people”.
Radda said the ruling party’s focus is on transparent, inclusive, and democratic processes that strengthen collective democratic experience.
The Deputy Governor, Faruq Jobe, who chairs the local government election planning committee, outlined reformatory measures. Ahmed Musa Dangiwa and Hanatu Musa Musawa, who jointly commended the government for its transparent leadership and strategic initiatives in addressing citizens’ critical needs, also expressed optimism over APC’s chances during the exercise.
