Decamping supporters woo Shehu Sani to join APC in Kaduna
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), yesterday, suffered a setback in Kaduna State, as thousands of Senator Shehu Sani’s supporters defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The defection was on the heels of the party’s state congress last weekend.
Recall that Sani, who represented Kaduna Central in the National Assembly from 2015 to 2019, was a PDP gubernatorial aspirant during the 2023 general elections, but lost at the primaries.
The decamping supporters, who came from across the 23 local council areas of the state, stormed the 2023 APC Campaign Office at the NEPA Roundabout, by Muhammadu Buhari Way, chanting songs of welcome back to Senator Sani.
According to the faithful, they have persuaded their leader, Sani, to return to the ruling party, and are convinced that he will officially decamp to the APC in the coming weeks.
One of the leaders and former Campaign Director for Sani in the PRP, Monday Jaji, said he has been working for Sani’s defection for over two years.
Receiving the decampees, Kaduna State Chairman of the APC, Air Commodore Emmanuel Jekada (rtd), expressed the hope that the move would propel the ruling party and state to a greater height.
