Don’t deviate from path of good governance, OBJ tasks Adeleke

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo, has charged the newly re-elected Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State, not to deviate from the path of good governance and democratic ideals.

Obasanjo, who paid a congratulatory visit to Adeleke at his country home in Ede, on Sunday, accompanied by Chief Oyewole Fasawe, prayed for the governor’s success in replicating heathy socioeconomic developments of the state in his second term.

It is recalled that Adeleke, won last Saturday’s governorship poll in Osun on the platform of Accord, polling 511,067 votes to defeat the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Oyebamiji, popularly known as AMBO, who secured 444,815 votes.

A statement by the governor’s spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, quoted the former president to have stated that “continue to deliver good governance. Continue to meet the needs of your people.

The statement reads: “The former leader accompanied by Otunba Oyewole Fasawe was received by Governor Adeleke with dancing and a song of praise to God for the successful outcome of the election.

“The former president prayed for further successes of the governor and urged him to continue on the path of good governance and delivery of dividends of democracy.”

Adeleke, who was surprised at the ex-president’s visit expressed his gratitude to God and the people and promised to continue to be a loyal servant of Osun people.

“Baba, I thank you for this surprise visit. I promise never to disappoint God, Osun people and all lovers of democracy who made our victory possible.”, the governor remarked.

Adeleke was accompanied by his deputy governor, Prince Kola Adewusi, among other dignataries to receive the former president in his country home.
