The Ekiti State Government has approved N700,973,716.86 for the comprehensive renovation and remodelling of the State House of Assembly Complex and the Assembly Service Commission building.

Additionally, the State Executive Council (SEC) has allocated N177.9 million as part payment to clear 325 hectares of land for youths from Ikere, Emure, Moba, Ido-Osi, and Ekiti West local government areas, supporting the ‘Youths in Agriculture’ initiative.

The decisions were made at the weekly Council meeting chaired by Governor Biodun Oyebanji, held at the Council Chamber of the Government House in Ado-Ekiti, the state capital.

Previously, N355,875 million had been approved for the land clearing project in partnership with local governments.

According to a statement from the Commissioner for Information and Value Orientation, Mr. Taiwo Olatunbosun, the administration’s goal is to empower farmers in the State through targeted initiatives and collaboration with local government areas to enhance production along the value chain.

“Given the urgency to plant crops before the end of the farming season and our commitment to transforming the agricultural sector, DAVIDMOORE DEVELOPMENTAL CONCEPT LIMITED has been engaged for the land clearing project, supervised by both the Ministry of Local Government and the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security in collaboration with the affected LGAs,” Olatunbosun said.

Regarding the renovation of the State House of Assembly, Olatunbosun noted that due to the building’s deteriorated condition, a comprehensive renovation and remodelling were necessary to restore the structures to a modern, functional state for effective legislative and administrative duties.

“The contract awarded to ClemCharles Nigeria Limited through Direct Procurement, in accordance with Section 42b of the Ekiti State Public Procurement (Re-Enactment Law, 2020), is expected to be completed in 12 weeks,” the Commissioner added.
