Fayose’s PDP faction declares Ekiti Caretaker Committee illegal 

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) faction loyal to the former Governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose, under the auspices of Osoko Political Assembly (OPA) has declared the Caretaker Committee put in place to oversee the activities of the party for three months by the national leadership as illegal.

The OPA disclosed this at an event which was organized by the associates of Fayose yesterday to mark his 64th birthday in Ado Ekiti.

Speaking with newsmen at the event on Thursday, Former member, House of Assembly in Ekiti, and leader of Osoko political Assembly said there was a state working committee that was legally elected and was dissolved to put in the caretaker, adding that the caretaker committee emergence is illegal and “we are not part of the caretaker arrangement.

“We have many leaders in PDP but you all know that Fayose is the principal leader. When the timetable for the congress is out, we are going to participate because we are all members of the PDP.

“The Caretaker Committee is not known to the constitution of the PDP. When the congress is properly arranged, we will participate.  When the National leadership is ready for congresses, we will participate but not the one that is midwife by the illegal Caretaker committee.”

Asked how Fayose and other members of their group are fraternising with the APC-led government,  said only an enemy of progress will say that Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji is not doing well.

He maintained that the peaceful atmosphere that Ekiti is enjoying is due to the wisdom of Governor Oyebanji and that when good governance is experienced such personality should be praised.

Also speaking, Mr Akinleye Dayo said Fayose is a benefactort, saying the Osoko political Assembly is ready to join the former governor anywhere he decides to pitch his tent when Politicking begins.

“He is our leader, our benefactor, He is our father, we believe in his leadership, wherever he leads us, we follow.”

Reacting to the alleged claim that the caretaker committee is an illegal body, the spokesperson of the committee, Jackson Adebayo dismissed the group as bad losers, saying that they would face reality at the fullness of time.

“They are frustrated and they cannot comprehend what is happening in the party because of their consistent anti-party activities, that is why denying a legally constituted committee by the National Working Committee of our party.

“They are agitated because they lost out in the composition of the Caretaker Committee and they are leaking their wounds. I don’t know why they can’t wait for the court to adjudicate on the suits they filed to challenge the legality of the caretaker committee.”
