Fubara suspends LG chairman
Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has ordered the suspension of the Caretaker Committee Chairman of Akuku-Toru Local Council of the State, Otonye Briggs, with immediate effect.
Fubara gave the directive in a statement, yesterday, in Port Harcourt by his media aide, Nelson Chukwudi, which was made available to newsmen. Though no reason was given for the suspension, the governor has replaced him with Bitebobo Nelson Amieye.
The statement reads: “The Chairman, Caretaker Committee of Akuku-Toru Local Council, Otonye Briggs, has been suspended with immediate effect. The governor has directed Bitebobo Nelson Amieye to take over as chairman.
“Briggs is, hereby, directed to hand over all council property to the Caretaker Committee Chairman.”
