Kaduna LG Elections: Voters protest absence of electoral officers
The failure of electoral officers to distribute voting materials for the 23 local government elections in Kaduna State threatens to disrupt the polls across several parts of the state.
As of 10:30 a.m., electoral officers were absent at numerous polling units, leaving frustrated voters waiting to cast their votes.
In Kawo, located in Kaduna North Local Government Area, some electoral officers who arrived at polling units were chased away by angry voters around 11:30 a.m.
Meanwhile, in Jaba, voters took to the streets to protest the absence of a returning officer and the lack of result sheets.
Although tensions are rising, there has been no breakdown of law and order. Security personnel are actively monitoring the situation, but voting is yet to commence in many areas.
