Barely three days before the local government elections in Kaduna State, the former Labour Party (LP) Chairman in the state, Isah Chiroma, and Abdullahi Imrah, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for the Kafachan Ward B Councillorship, have decamped to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Chiroma, speaking during the flag-off campaign and presentation of flags to councillorship candidates, cited the inclusive governance approach of Senator Uba Sani and the infrastructural development in southern Kaduna as key motivators for his decision to join the APC. He remarked, “Peter Tanko Dogara is a grassroots person, and there must be a paradigm shift in the belief that Southern Kaduna belongs to one party, and APC is that party.”

Imrah echoed similar sentiments, stating that despite the imminent elections, he chose to withdraw from the PDP to join forces with Peter Tanko in the APC to drive progress in the state and the nation.

Deputy Governor Dr. Hadiza Sabuwa Balarabe welcomed the decampees, congratulating them on what she termed a wise choice to join the winning team. She assured them they would be included in the party’s activities.

Regarding the upcoming election, Balarabe noted the significant turnout of supporters, suggesting that the APC is poised for victory. She urged party members to conduct themselves appropriately during the elections, emphasizing that as a party confident of victory, they have nothing to prove.

Peter Tanko Dogara, the APC Chairmanship candidate for Ja’mma Local Government Council, promised the community the benefits of democracy through good governance and transparency. He highlighted crucial issues such as security, health, investment, and empowerment as priorities for the community.

“I admire Senator Uba Sani because of his closeness to the grassroots. Southern Kaduna has historically been marginalized regarding infrastructure, but with this government in place, many are leaving other parties to join the APC,” Dogara added, praising the current government’s efforts to carry the people along.
