Urges FG to tackle insecurity

Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, at the weekend, advised political leaders to be committed to delivering good governance to the Nigerian people, saying that the early focus on the 2027 elections is ruinous and inimical to democratic values.

Speaking at the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) State Congress held at the Cenotaph, in Asaba, Oborevweri stressed that it is too early for any politician, who means well for the people, to give priority to the 2027 discourse.

At the congress attended by 3,152 delegates and conducted by a team of PDP officials from Abuja, led by Prof. Frank Collins Okafor, the governor noted that there is a need for party members in the state to work together for continued growth and overall development of the state.

The event, supervised by officials from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), was monitored by independent observers, Solomon Arenyeka was elected the State Chairman, while Moses Iduh was declared Deputy Chairman.

Other elected officials include Daniel Ossai (Vice Chairman, Delta North Senatorial District), Anthony Akpomiemie (Vice Chairman, Delta Central Senatorial District), Emmanuel Amgbaduba (Vice Chairman, Delta South Senatorial District), Isaacs Itebu (Secretary), Chibuzor Uwajei (State Treasurer), Fidelis Adjogbe (Financial Secretary), Dr. Ebenezer Okorodudu (Publicity Secretary), Emmanuel Egbabor (Organising Secretary), Hessington Okolo (State Legal Adviser), Dora Sakpaide (State Woman Leader), Francis Okolie (State Youth Leader), and Pastor Alex Akemotubo (State Auditor).

Meanwhile, the Speaker of Delta State House of Assembly, Emomotimi Dennis Guwor, charged the newly elected executives of PDP in the state to be committed to the party.

MEANWHILE, disturbed by the endless killings and kidnapping in Nigeria, particularly the recent kidnap of former House of Representatives, Joan Onyemachi Mrakpor, the governor, yesterday, urged the Federal Government to tackle insecurity in the country.

Recall that Mrakpor (Ada Anioma), was abducted by unknown gunmen inside a Church, off DBS Road, Asaba, and released in Bayelsa State 10 days later.

At a special thanksgiving by Ada Anioma held at the Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries, Asaba, Oborevwori, who spoke through his deputy, Monday Onyeme, tasked the Federal Government to ensure the security of life and property.

“The level of insecurity in parts of the country calls for serious concern, and we urge the Federal Government to arrest the situation without delay.”
