The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) said on Monday that it will not dictate to its disciplinary committee regarding whom to invite for interrogation.

The party clarified that, having been properly established by the National Executive Committee (NEC), the Tom Ikimi-led disciplinary committee is expected to operate independently and fulfil its mandate without interference.

PDP’s National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, provided this clarification in response to reports suggesting that the party’s leadership had instructed the disciplinary committee to question Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike over remarks made against the PDP Governors Forum.

Ologunagba said that the PDP is a well-structured party that strictly adheres to its rules, asserting that no circumstance would cause the party to abandon its rules.

He further stated that the rules and constitution of the party are supreme and that no individual is above the party.

Deputy National Publicity Secretary, Ibrahim Abdullahi, had previously revealed in a Channels Television interview that Wike is among those scheduled to face the disciplinary committee.

Abdullahi explained, “Three weeks ago, we established two committees, one for reconciliation and one for disciplinary matters, with Nyesom Wike being one of the individuals to face the disciplinary committee headed by Chief Tom Ikimi.

“The disciplinary committee will address issues of anti-party activities. We have received petitions regarding anti-party activities or sabotage of the party throughout the primaries, which have been compiled and forwarded to the committee.

“Some party members even believe that Wike should not have reached this level as a PDP member, and they have been communicating their concerns to the leadership,” Abdullahi added.
