Hails Wike’s Inclusive Political Strategy
The Niger Delta Development Ambassadors (NDDA) has endorsed Rt. Hon. Kingsley Ogundu Chinda as the consensus governorship candidate of the emerging “Rainbow Coalition” ahead of the 2027 governorship election in Rivers State.
The group said Chinda possesses the political experience, legislative competence, and cross-party appeal needed to drive the coalition’s broader vision of stability, inclusive governance, and sustainable development in the state.
In a statement issued on Sunday and signed by its National President, King David Attah, the organisation also applauded the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, for what it described as his role in fostering a more inclusive democratic culture through the coalition arrangement currently gaining momentum in Rivers politics.
According to the NDDA, the Rainbow Coalition represents a strategic political alliance bringing together different political interests and tendencies beyond partisan divisions in pursuit of peace, stability, and development in Rivers State.
The group described the coalition as a major departure from divisive politics, noting that the arrangement reflects political maturity and a growing desire among stakeholders to prioritise governance over conflict.
“The Rainbow Coalition represents a significant transition from politics driven by hostility, rivalry and exclusion to one anchored on consultation, accommodation and collective responsibility,” the statement read.
“We commend the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, for encouraging a political atmosphere where leaders from different political backgrounds can work together in pursuit of stability, democratic growth and development.”
The organisation stated that Chinda, who currently represents Obio/Akpor Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, remains one of the few political figures in Rivers State with strong relationships across multiple political blocs and ideological lines.
According to the group, his years of legislative experience and understanding of governance, lawmaking, and public administration place him in a strong position to sustain political balance within the coalition framework.
The NDDA stressed that Rivers State needs leadership capable of uniting competing interests while focusing on infrastructure, economic growth, youth empowerment, peacebuilding, and security.
“Rt. Hon. Kingsley Chinda has demonstrated capacity, political maturity, and the ability to build bridges across divides. At this critical stage in Rivers politics, the state requires consensus builders rather than politicians driven by bitterness and endless confrontation,” Attah stated.
The group also commended the conduct of the APC primaries in Rivers State, describing the process as peaceful, orderly, and reflective of improving democratic maturity among political actors in the state.
According to the NDDA, the relatively calm atmosphere surrounding the primaries stands in contrast to the tension and instability that previously characterised political contests in Rivers State.
The organisation urged political stakeholders across party lines to sustain the current atmosphere of dialogue, restraint, and cooperation as political alignments ahead of the 2027 elections continue to evolve.
It added that the long-term success of the Rainbow Coalition would ultimately depend on its ability to place governance, development, and the welfare of Rivers people above narrow political interests and personal ambitions.
The group further called on youths, traditional rulers, community leaders, and civil society groups to support initiatives capable of promoting peace, political inclusion, and long-term democratic stability in the state ahead of the next electoral cycle.
