Rivers Assembly urges IGP to arrest perpetrators of LG attacks
The Victor Oko-Jumbo-led Rivers State House of Assembly has called on the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, to take immediate action and arrest those responsible for burning local government councils in the state.
The Speaker, Oko-Jumbo, made the urgent plea during today’s plenary session, condemning the senseless destruction of government infrastructure by criminals.
Oko-Jumbo highlighted the pockets of violence in certain local government areas, despite Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s tireless efforts to maintain peace in the state.

He said the Governor has demonstrated exceptional resilience in the face of provocation, and the government has made significant sacrifices to ensure peace reigns.
The development came as the Inspector General of Police directed policemen to immediately withdraw from the local government secretariats in Rivers State.
