The National Executive Council (NEC) of the Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria (RTEAN) has dissolved the Oyo State branch executives with immediate effect.

The organisation said the decision, taken at the NEC meeting on August 29, 2024, at the national headquarters, was in line with the association’s constitution, specifically Article 9d (ii).

According to the notice signed by the President of RTEAN, Musa Muhammed Maitakobi, and National Secretary, Comr. Yusuf Ibrahim Adeniyi, sighted by The Guardian on Wednesday, the dissolution was due to the non-functionality of the executives and their failure to attend NEC meetings for over six months without any valid reason.

The statement said: “National Executive Council (N.E.C) meeting held on August 29, 2024, at the National Headquarters, we wish to convey to you the immediate dissolution of the Oyo State Branch of RTEAN, in line with the provisions of the Association’s Constitution at Article 9: d (ii).

“This action was as a result of the non-functionality of the executives and non-attendance of NEC meetings for more than 6 months without any cause.

“Meanwhile, a committee will be constituted to pilot the affairs of the state pending when a new set of executives will be elected as demanded by the constitution.

“Take further note that all present executives of the state are hereby dissolved in line with the specification of Article 9:(b) of the Association’s constitution.”
