A few years ago, Ochuwa shared certain similarities with her audience. Holding a degree in law and a Diploma in Criminology, she is now the CEO of Aisha Ochuwa Jewellery Limited, Aisha Ochuwa Luxury, and Bespoke By Aisha Ochuwa. The mother-of-two is an undisputed leader and jewellery merchant in Nigeria and across Africa, continuously redefining luxury with top-notch designs. The multiple award-winning businesswoman is currently breaking new grounds with the “Industry Miner Limited”.

Ochuwa, one of the leading lights in the Nigerian business circle and a driver of youth initiatives and inclusion, pioneered an idea that helps young people realise their professional dreams. In 2022, the business tycoon was recognised by the Young Entrepreneurs International Summit and Awards, in association with the Office of the Duke of Royan, France, for her phenomenal accomplishments as an inspiration in Nigeria.

At the event, Ochuwa enlightened the law students on the nitty-gritty of running a successful business and educated them on how to start small and grow. She emphasised the need for courage to start whatever business ideas they have without waiting for capital.

“You have to put the word out there. If you do not expose your brand to the people, they will not know about your brand because it is information received that is processed. There are a lot of people that come up with brilliant ideas at some point but never followed through. Why? Because of fear. It is all a mind game; it’s all in your head. I promise you, that restriction is in your head,” Ochuwa said.

“The very minute you break out of it, you will see yourself doing things you never imagined. Yes, a lot of people have thrown away even brilliant business plans that they’ve drafted because of fear. Fear has made a lot of great men die with their talent. Fear has restricted people from showing themselves approved to the world, even though they know deep down in their heart that they have it. The very first thing you must do before you start a business is to work on your mind.

“Do you know there is nothing like failure? That is my own theory. What happened? You’ve only made mistakes, and when you make a mistake, what do you do? Do you give up? You go back, look at that mistake you have made and see how you can turn those beautiful broken pieces into a work of art. Don’t be afraid to start.”

The Law Students Society of OOU presented an award to her for contributions to the “mind growth and development” of the law students.
