AMVCA2020: Celebrities bring the ‘red’ to red carpet in grand style

The seventh edition of the annual Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA) held last weekend and if you missed it, you missed some of the most jaw-dropping, audacious, stylish looks so far this year.

Known for showcasing some of the most daring looks of the year, this year’s edition which held at the Eko Hotel and Suites in Lagos was no different as celebrities, influencers and the industry’s finest pulled out all the stops, putting their best foot forward to serve the best beauty and fashion looks.

In celebration of groundbreaking achievements in TV and Film, the stars dared to make an impact with fashion on the red carpet and it seemed everyone got the go hard or go home memo. Ghanaian actress, Nana Akua Addo, cemented herself early on as one of the best-dressed stars of the night, after arriving on the red carpet in a stunning sculptural organza Gaurav Gupta dress that emphasized her curves and sent the Internet into a frenzy.

From silk to sequins, lace, chiffon, organza, ruffles, accents and brings, the night saw every single fashion statement piece served on a platter of gold. The over-riding theme for this year seemed to be thigh-high slits as almost every dress on the red carpet had this feature, leaving little to the imagination but delighting their male fans. The men were not left out of the fashion frenzy either as they came prepared to paint the carpet literally red, serving the edgiest fashion looks to date yet.

In case you missed it, we have put together the best jewel embellished, sequin-adorned, floor-length and downright chicest ensembles from the just concluded AMVCA7. Which looks did you like the most and would be willing to try?
