Practically inspired to seeing that the interests, aspirations of all Igbo breeds, home and in the diaspora, are met and protected, a man of valour and courage, High Chief Osita Omah, has requested to be trusted with the coveted seat of the Vice President – General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide during the January 10, 2025 election of the Igbo socio-cultural group.

Reports about his leadership sagacity and dexterity in mobilising men and resources for the common purpose of protecting the interest of ndi Igbo and projecting her rich cultural heritage are not in doubt.

Having been tested and trusted, he is also seen as very fit, absolutely bold and sincerely convincing and would stop at nothing to do the needful with other officials of the Apex Igbo socio-cultural group of the Igbo race to speak with one voice in line with the mandate of the people who he said deserve better living, security, comfort, social conviviality, as well as enrich Igbo enclave. Interestingly, High Chief Osita Omah is a sound mind, godly, productively enriching with deep sense of accountability and probity, as he exudes meekness and kindness.

Being an illustrious son of Ugwuoba Oji River, in Enugu State, Osita Omah was born in April 1965 at his home town. He is an academic giant, having acquired a B.sc Hons in Political Science with Second Class Upper Division from the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) Abuja main campus.

Osita is very charismatic and knows what good leadership and service to humanity portends. This is why his people insisted that he served them as President-General of Ugwuoba Development Union. And to further prove a point about his leadership sagacity, it is on good record that High Chief Osita Omah served as National President General of Ugwuoba Oji River from 2017 until he handed over on December 31, 2024. A clarion call by his people to serve them as a respected and trusted community leader. He was also a very critical leader of Ohanaeze Ndigbo in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, before relocating to Abuja where he settled with his family.

A prominent figure and known respected Igbo leader in Abuja. He was former Chairman of Association of Construction, Equipment, and Scrap Dealers, Abuja chapter, currently the Secretary, Board of Trustees of the Association. He has shown capacity in leadership with unwavering commitment in ensuring that programmes and projects under his watch are timely executed.

No doubt, Chief Osita Omah is a full member of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide and a leader of Igbo Community in FCT Abuja with vast experience in leadership and entrepreneurship.

Omah is a full time business tycoon, who is the Chairman/Chief Executive Officer, Syphons Associates West Africa Ltd, Abuja, Chairman/Chief Executive Officer, Osita Osy Nigeria Ltd, among other business outfits, where many Igbo breeds are gainfully employed and are making both ends meet.

Nevertheless, while everyone has the right to aspire for any elective positions, it is regrettably that some who occupy positions of authority find it so difficult to give others space to thrive and contribute their own quota in the distribution of Ohanaeze Ndigbo’s elective positions and development of the Igbo race.

A case in point, is the desperate over ambitious move of Alex Ogbonna, the outgoing National Publicity Secretary of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, who has thrown himself up again for the position of Vice- President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo in the forthcoming January 10, 2025 elections, without any break amid wide speculation of overbearing leadership attitude, intolerance, and high handedness in the Executive Council of the powerful Igbo socio-cultural group.

Having held sway as Enugu State Chairman of Ohanaeze Ndigbo for 8 years of two consecutive terms; National Publicity Secretary of Ohanaeze Ndigbo for uninterrupted 4 solid years; throwing himself up for the position of Vice – President General of the Igbo socio-cultural group which is zoned to Enugu State is repugnant to social justice, equity, and fairness, while painting a demeaning picture of selfishness and desperation as if Enugu State is in short supply of human resources and men with capacity to give effective representation in the leadership of Ohanaeze Ndigbo World Wide. Thus, making sound minds and other conservatives from Enugu State to question his special interest in attempting to perpetuate himself in office.

On the other hand, Omah has reaffirmed his willingness, readiness, sense of duty and responsibility to serve Igbo people with diligence, assuring them of probity, transparency and accountability in office.

Speaking on his candidature, Chukwubuilke Nnamdi, an Igbo author and essayist, said Omah if given an opportunity to serve will ensure inclusive leadership through town hall meeting among Enugu stakeholders and of the periodic developments and other programs of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide as he is not going there to represent himself.

Hence, he craves the indulgence and support of the people to enable him become the Vice President – General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide with a view to help improving unity, prosperity and development in the region which he added is blessed with human and material resources.
