Nigeria You Should Know Ariel Lavi!
Meet one of the biggest rising stars in the film industry- Ariel Lavi an Israeli International Film Producer, Screenwriter and Actor, the owner of Lavi Company in Miami, FL. He produced films in the US, Mexico, Nigeria, Dubai, Canada and many more. His films won 17 awards all over the world and were nominated 14 times.
He wrote and produced the film “Dangerous Silence” in Nigeria. The cast includes the award-winning Nollywood Actor Olaide
Almaroof, Otega Igho, Jemima Adelekan. Directed by Adeyinka Adetoyi. This film won Best Supporting Actor for Otega Ogho in Dreamachine International Film Festival in Los Angeles and will be screened at the annual winner’s awards screening. The film won a Special Mention in the One Reeler Short Film Competition in Los Angeles. The film was nominated for Festigious Film Festival in Los Angeles, Los Angeles Film Awards, and Lift Off Filmmaker Film Festival in London Pinewood Studios.
Now, the film will be screened at one of the top film festivals in Nigeria- Abuja International Film Festival- the oldest film festival in Nigeria. In addition, the film will be screened Inside Nollywood Film Festival & Awards in Awka.
Hello Ariel, are you excited for the Nigerian Premiere Screenings?
“It’s exciting for me that the film will be screened in Nigeria. I know about the industry a lot, I heard about Nollywood and I can’t wait for this“
The film is very deep. Tell us more about “Dangerous Silence”
“ It’s a film I wrote and produced in Nigeria. It tells about Lila (18), who is found as a victim of poverty. She makes a living from occasional sex. She does this with Chuimbo, a ruthless and conscientious 30-year-old man who takes advantage of her. On the other hand, his best friend Gathee feels bad about it but is afraid of him. When he decides to fight it is too late״
Sounds amazing, why have you decided to make a film in Africa?
“I like challenges, it makes me better, the culture is interesting and the film industry in Nigeria is one of the best in the world ”
How did you get along with the culture?
“It was difficult but like any country, I did a film before I know how to get along”
How have your films won so many awards? What’s your secret?
“I know how to market my films, this isn’t easy”
Your expectations for the screenings?
“To win, I’m a winner and expect myself each festival to win, I respect every participant but I know we can do it”.
