Nollywood creative minds forum seeks better practice at seminar

It is in pursuit of a better and virile Nollywood industry that the stakeholders converged in Lagos for the 6th edition of the Nollywood Creative Minds Forum (NCMF) seminar and film screening.

The event, which held penultimate Tuesday at Four Points by Sheraton, Lagos, had in attendance top players in Nollywood which including ace filmmaker Femi Odugbemi, Executive Director of the National Film and Video Censors Board, Dr. Shaibu Husseini, Bukky Thomas, Victor Okhai, Carol King, Kingsley Omo-Efe, and President of the Creative Designers Guild of Nigeria, Joy Akinyemi Osawairu.

President of NCMF, Ijeoma Richards, noted that in NCMF’S quest for professionalism in the industry, the forum looked around and discovered that the industry could do better. In her words: “And so we set forth and here we are still waxing stronger and better. We are thoroughbred professionals.”

The ED of the NFVCB, Shaibu, in his keynote address urged the forum to continue to facilitate discussions on industry trends, challenges and opportunities, with a focus on shaping the future of Nollywood. He noted that the in bid to strive for excellence, stakeholders must focus on developing a better filmmaking tradition that prioritizes: quality storytelling, professionalism, innovation and collaboration.

“Our stories should be authentic, engaging, and reflective of our diverse experiences. We must adhere to industry standards, best practices, and ethical guidelines. We should embrace new technologies, techniques, and ideas to stay ahead of the curve.
