At the debut of Noir Opulence collection, tagged the YS Woman by Yemi Shoyemi, the Creative Director and designer, said every woman should wear exquisite and elegant dresses that would still make her standout beautifully.

The designer, who has been making bridal dresses for 10 years, revealed that having worked with different women, she decided to do more than just the white dress for women. “We decided to create the Noir Opulence also known as YS Woman (Yemi Shoyemi Woman), a collection of occasions-wear for a community of women who like elegant dresses that makes them stand out with a bit of sexiness in any gathering. “The idea is to always make sure that there’s something in your wardrobe that reminds you of who you are as a woman, and those are the words that we put together to create the YS woman. The YS woman is independent, strong, and sexy, she has substance, she’s intelligent, she knows who she is as a woman and she wants to show that she’s more than just brains through her sense of fashion and style. The YS woman is a combination of fierceness and sensuality.”

Shoyemi said the Noir Opulence collection is basically a translation of the white wedding dresses to create colourful ones that describe individuality, personality and style. “We are in the era where women want to be more than just being celebrated on their wedding day. Every woman wants to feel celebrated every day. I’ve always seen women as strong and powerful people with a lot of responsibility; however, what brings us together as women is the love for fashion, one that makes every woman want to look good. Every woman wants to feel good. Every woman wants to be admired.”

Speaking on the fabric and design elements in the collection, she said: “Noir Opulence collection is designed with solid fabrics such as velvet which stands for richness, lace which creates diversity and others. For the elements, we are playing around with silhouettes. The first thing you will see is the silhouette of the dresses and then you will see structure in every piece either in the silhouette of the dress or in creating volume, drama etc. Also there are hand beaded elements which give that intricacy in each of the pieces.”
