Hakeem Olajuwon Becomes Real Estate King In America
Nigeria born retired Houston Rockets player, Hakeem Olajuwon is gradually taking Houston, Texas real estate circle by storm. Learnt that the soft-spoken Nigerian who led his team twice to win NBA Championship, is now one of the undisputed estate gurus in his adopted home town of Houston, Texas. Olajuwon, it was learnt, employed an orthodox, yet disciplined strategy, and has managed to make impact in real estates in the last 15 years as he did in his 17 seasons of playing professional basket ball. “He buys high and sells higher”, said an insider.
We gathered that many of the former All Stars’ real estate moves caused market watchers in Houston to shake heads because they felt he overpaid. But they were all wrong. Olajuwon somehow managed to sell higher every time. According to sources close to the tall basketball star, “he buys expensive land that is already fully developed. Such land as everybody in the business knows, is usually excruciatingly slow to appreciate and even as risk of depreciation”.
But the 55-year old megastar has managed to at least double his money in country appraisal listings. Profits from his 25 total transaction have easily exceeded $100 million. His timing has been amazing. “All I can say about Hakeem the dream Olajuwon is that he has the timing of a vulture on the basket ball pitch as well as in real estate”, One of his ex-Houston Rockets playing pals, Chucks Hayes said.
