Akor Adams has become the third Nigerian player to join Sevilla after the duo of compatriots, Chidera Ejuke and Kelechi Iheanacho.

Sevilla on Monday announced the signing of Adams from Montpellier of France for a reported transfer fee of 5.5 million euros.

The Nigerian striker has signed until 2029 and was in attendance during Sevilla’s 1-1 draw with RCD Espanyol in a La Liga game on Saturday.

“An agreement has been reached with Montpellier HSC for the signing of Akor Adams,” Sevilla announced on its official website and social media platforms.

“The 24-year-old arrives after playing 15 games for the French side this season, scoring three goals and getting three assists.”

Adams joined Montpellier in August 2023 from Norwegian club, Lillestrøm SK, where he performed very well.

In his debut season in France, he was a regular for Montpellier, making 33 appearances in all competitions, from which he had ten goals and two assists.

Before joining Montpellier, he first moved to Europe in the summer of 2018 from Jamba Football Academy, Nigeria to Sogndal IL in the second tier of Norwegian football.

In three and a half seasons, Adams made a total of 56 appearances, scoring 16 goals and getting six assists.

His performances in front of goal drew the attention of Lillestrøm in the top division of Norwegian football for whom he signed in 2022.

In his first season, he scored 11 goals in 33 games and made his debut in a European competition, playing in a UEFA Conference League qualifier against SJK Seinajoki of Finland.

The following summer after making a huge impression by scoring a remarkable 17 goals in 17 games and leading the European Golden Shoe standings, he agreed to join Montpellier.

On the international level, the striker has played twice for Nigeria’s Under-20 team known as the Flying Eagles after starring at the 2019 Youth World Cup in Poland.
