DEATH, Martin Heidegger, the German philosopher, said: “Is an ontological reality. As soon as man is born, he is old enough to die.”

But the father of Abba Kyari, the former head of the Lagos State Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS), was not just born waiting for death to knock hard on his door, he lived a good life before he bade farewell to the world.

The late Kyari finally succumbed to the cold hands of death last Friday, January 22, after a spirited battle. The health of Kyari, who was said to have shared an exceptional closeness with his son, had deteriorated in recent times. In fact, he was said to have been visiting prominent physician for some time, who could do little or nothing to alter the course of nature.

Though Abba, a Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) was shaken to the marrows in the wake of his loss, but now that his remains had been buried in a befitting style in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital, Abba is gradually getting himself together.
