Fuji music superstar, Sulaimon Alao Adekunle, known professionally as KS1 Malaika, has explained why he unexpectedly broke down in tears while performing at the Grace/Tribute Concert on Saturday, August 31, at the New Nollywood Studios in Woolwich, London.

The emotional moment occurred while Malaika was singing a song that reflected on the purpose of life and death during the concert which is part of his ongoing 2024 European Tour. The tribute was especially poignant as it was dedicated to Alhaji Taiwo Agbaje, also known as Tee Boy, a well-known figure in London and one of Malaika’s close allies, who had passed away just weeks before the concert.

As Malaika sang, he struggled to maintain his composure, even as he at one point, signaled his band to continue playing, as attempt to mask his feelings from the packed audience. The weight of his emotions, however, became too much to bear, as he eventually dropped the microphone and broke down in tears, leaving his fans both surprised.

For a brief period, the band continued to play without Malaika’s lead vocals as he retreated backstage to fully express his grief. He returned to the stage to offer prayers for his late friend’s forgiveness and wished him eternal peace.

Notwithstanding the emotional interlude, the concert continued smoothly, with the audience enjoying Malaika’s melodic performance until the early hours of the next day.

The concert was organised by Godfather Promotion Inc. and Zaffa Initiatives London, with support from the Alayeluwa Fans Club United Kingdom, in memory of Tee Boy.
