AFCON 2023: Musa says Super Eagles can achieve anything they set their minds to
The Super Eagles captain, Ahmed Musa, says he and his teammates can achieve anything that they set their minds to at the 2023 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Cote d’Ivoire.
Musa has equally thanked Nigerian football fans and lovers for their amazing support, which has helped the Super Eagles reach the semi-finals of the 2023 AFCON after a hard-fought 1-0 win over Angola in Abidjan on Friday.
Atalanta BC of Italy attacker Ademola Lookman broke the deadlock for the Super Eagles in the 41st minute at the end of a devastating break.
FC Nantes winger, Moses Simon easily went past Kialonda Gaspar and teed up Lookman to smash the ball home with a first-time left-footed finish.
The Super Eagles, however, showed great resilience and fighting spirit to defend the only goal until the end of the game, something which delighted Musa.
“Thank you, amazing supporters, for showcasing the true spirit of unity in the recent Super Eagles of Nigeria vs. Angola match!,” the Sivasspor winger wrote on X.
“Despite our diverse tribes and religions, football unites us all. The songs, images and videos flooding social media reflect our shared passion.
“Let’s carry this unity forward – together, we can achieve anything we set our minds to!.”
Musa, despite being the Super Eagles captain is yet to feature at all for Nigeria in Ivory Coast but coach Jose Peseiro has insisted the attacker remains a crucial figure for the team.
The forward has played a total 237 minutes (4 games) of football since August 2023 but the 2013 AFCON winner has hit the back of the net on one occasion for Sivasspor this season.
