Chukwueze wins Best LaLiga African Player of the Season award
Villarreal’s Nigeria forward Samuel Chukwueze has been named best African player of the 2022/23 LaLiga season.
Villarreal revealed Chukwueze as the winner on their website on Tuesday.
The 24-year-old best off competition from Sevilla’s Morocco internationals Yassine Bono and Youssef En-Nesyri, Athletic Bilbao and Black Stars of Ghana striker Inaki Williams among others.
Chukwueze emerged the winner after being voted for by more than 30,000 fans and 26 journalists from Africa.
He played a total of 2348 minutes in 37 matches and started 27 of them.
In the Spanish league last season, he scored six goals and provided five assists.
He scored 13 goals, made 11 assists in 50 appearances in all competitions in the just concluded football campaign.
