Delta to compete at National Basic Education Sports finals in Abuja
The Executive Chairman, Delta State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Samuel Mariere, on Thursday, urged Ogoma Primary School, Ogwashi-Uku, the team representing the state at the finals of the Basic Education Sport held in Abuja, to stay focused.
Mariere expressed optimism about the team’s chances and tasked them to win the trophy, having had thorough training and logistical preparations for the game.
He also highlighted the Oborevwori administration’s commitment to taking sports and education to the next level.
The Delta State team departed for Abuja, the nation’s capital to compete in the National Basic Education Sport Finals with 28 other schools from across the nation.
While wishing the team that emerged victorious at the State level the best of luck in the tournament, Mariere emphasized the state’s commitment to developing sports from the grassroots level.
He added that the state will “stop at nothing in catching them young to align with the Oborevwori administration’s vision to take education and sports to the next level.
“Delta State’s vision for education is to provide unfettered access to basic education for all children, ensuring they receive a qualitative, functional, and free education that equips them for purposeful living.
“With this mission in mind, the team is poised to make a strong impression at the national finals.”
