Lookman places 14th in 2024 Ballon d’Or award
Nigeria and Atalanta forward Ademola Lookman finished in 14th position in the 2024 men’s Ballon d’Or award.
Organisers of the award, France Football, made the announcement on the Ballon d’Or X handle on Monday.
In the 2023 edition of the award, reigning CAF Player of the Year, Victor Osimhen finished in eight place.
Lookman is the only African who made the 30-man shortlist for this year’s award following his impressive performance for Nigeria’s Super Eagles and Atalanta.
He played a key role in the Eagles’ run to the final of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Côte d’Ivoire, scoring three goals.
His impressive display for the Eagles earned him a place in the Team of the Tournament.
He took his form to his club and helped them qualify for the Coppa Italia and Europa League finals.
After losing the Coppa Italia final to Juventus (1-0), Lookman helped them bounce back from the disappointment by bagging a hat-trick in the 3-0 win against Bayer Leverkusen in the Europa League final.
He is one of the nominees for the 2024 CAF Player of the Year award with many tipping him for the award.
The 2024 Ballon d’Or awards ceremony will take place in Paris, France.
