Super Eagles targeting maximum points against Benin Republic – NFF
The Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) has said the Super Eagles are going for the maximum points when they face their opponents Benin Republic in the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers on Thursday.
The Super Eagles will qualify for the group stage of the tournament in Morocco by avoiding a defeat in Abidjan.
“Victory will render Monday’s concluding qualifier against Rwanda, at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo, an academic session, with only the visitors keen to try and get something out of the clash while the Eagles play for sheer pride,” NFF said in a website statement.
Benin’s head coach, and former Super Eagles coach, Gernot Rohr will be under pressure to secure a victory, as a loss could jeopardize Benin’s hopes of advancing to the AFCON tournament.
Nigeria’s coach Augustine Eguavon will rely on the services of star players like Wilfred Ndidi, Alex Iwobi, Victor Osimhen, Ademola Lookman, Moses Simon, Victor Boniface, Samuel Chukwueze, Sadiq Umar and Kelechi Iheanacho to secure qualification.
