We are now at the forefront of a technological revolution that is taking place in the world of sports, just as it has taken place in the entire global society some years or even decades ago. Artificial Intelligence, Big Data, Cloud services and generally, data analytic systems have become quite common in contemporary sports environments.

Only recently InfoSys – the Indian digital services giant – announced it has signed tennis top player Iga Swiatek and one of the best tennis champions of the world, Rafael Nadal, as their brand ambassadors. This definitely shows that the world of technology and the world of sports are not really apart and distant, just as a more romantic or traditional perspective on sports would suggest. In fact, technology and sports are getting so close together, blending and merging, that we are only beginning to get a sense of how the future can be like.

Technology transforms the fans’ experience

For everyone who loves sports -even for those who love to bet on sports on betting sites in Germany and for that reason they follow sports news closely – the advanced technological and digital systems have already changed -or better advanced – their experience while watching sports.

And this comes not only from the fact that digital technologies are transforming the way that they see and understand a game or the way that they bet on sports (through advancing strategies for instance), let’s say with better analytics and statistics right there in front of them – but also from the fact that technology is transforming the performance of the athletes themselves.

Technology transforms athletes’ performance

We are talking about making athletes far more efficient, effective, precise, tuned and strategic than ever before. We are talking about making them more capable and skilled to deliver greater performances and of course a greater spectacle for the audiences and fans. We are talking about making them stronger and less vulnerable.

Technology is now used not only to improve athletes’ training, but to develop a holistic training system, which performs better in all manners. It provides accurate performance metrics, forecasts possible injuries – by taking into account potential factors that can harm an already burdened area for instance, identifies training needs with the help of AI, designs training courses, assesses athletes’ physical abilities and ultimately makes prognostics about subsequent performance. This of course comes in handy to the world of bookmakers as well, since all betting sites in Germany or online sportsbooks in Germany -and in fact in any other place in the world as well – can use advanced systems like these to inform their oddsetting processes!

Artificial intelligence and big data are the ones largely accountable for this transformation. Technology is using unthinkably large amounts of data to optimize training, with regards to every little aspect that appears to matter.

The systems are able to collect, process and interpret everything that is deemed to have an impact on athletes’ performance and in doing so, they produce unique, customized and tailored training. From the training environment to the optimal hours of training and from the wearable devices that deliver key biometrics to simulating games, everything in training becomes targeted and tuned to each respective athlete.

And it is not only that technology advances athletes’ training by creating personalized programs that are designed to meet the needs and goals of each individual distinctively. It is also that technology ends up improving their performance in indirect ways. Predicting possible injuries or being able to accurately assess the prognostics of an injury is really helpful to prevent athletes from further delaying their recovery or even their coming back to their game. And in this way, not only they can do their thing safer, but they can do it better, improving their performance records or better, maintaining high levels of their records!

When performance is improved, competition becomes more intense too. And when competition becomes harsher, then athletes evolve. And we all know by now that athletes evolve with the help of technology. It’s a constant loop!
