150 trade swings at Orodje Of Okpe golf tourney

Sapele Athletic Club Golf Section is the best place to be this weekend as the sprawling course hosts the sixth Orodje of Okpe tournament, which begins today and ends tomorrow.

The golf tournament sponsored by Seplat Energy will feature over 150 golfers playing for honour and other rewards.

Chairman of the Organising Committee, Dr Edward Carpe, in a statement yesterday, stated that home-based golfers set the ball rolling today, with the cocktail holding in the evening.

He hinted that tomorrow’s event would feature golfers from other clubs, adding that the Orodje of Okpe, HRM Orhue 1, Major Gen. Felix Mujakperuo (rtd.), will, as usual, perform the ceremonial tee-off in the morning just as presentation of prizes and trophies will hold later in the evening.

He noted that golfers will fight for success in the men’s, ladies, veterans and super veterans categories, adding that Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwie , Okpe Kingdom chiefs, Managing Director of Seplat Energy and many others, are expected to be part of the tournament.

Carpe disclosed that golfers from Benin Club Golf Section (BCGS), UBTH Golf Club, Ogunu Golf Resort, Warri, Ibori Golf and Country Club, Asaba, IBB Golf and Country Club, Abuja, Arsenal Golf Club, Owerri, Ikeja Golf Club and many other clubs are expected to feature at the tournament.
