Team Nigeria’s run of losses at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris continued on Sunday morning with boxer Olaitan Olaore crashing out of the men’s 92kg heavyweight event.

Reports gathered revealed that Olaore lost 0-5 to Kazakhstan’s Oralbay Aibek to add to his team’s misery which had begun on Wednesday in Bordeaux.

Aibek was really in command of the round of 16 bout at the North Paris Arena, winning all three rounds on all the five judges’ cards.

Olaore joins on the Team NigeriaTeam Nigeria sidelines Cynthia Ogunsemilore, who was disqualified after failing a doping test, and Dolapo Omole who was ruled out due to injury.

Guardian earlier reported, that Nigeria’s men’s table tennis players lost their matches in the first round of the competition.

Quadri Aruna lost 3-4 in his round of 64 match at the South Paris Arena to Eduard Ionescu of Romania.

The loss meant Aruna’s hopes of repeating his Rio 2016 quarter-finals performance went up in smoke when the 20-year-old Ionescu made it a thrilling Olympic debut for himself.

He rallied back to win with an 8-11 9-11 6-11 11-8 12-10 11-9 13-11 scoreline, in spite of having played a match earlier in the day.

The report meant both Nigerians are out of the men’s singles event of the competition, currently tagged Paris 2024 Olympic games.

In football, the female team lost their first game, by a narrow margin scoreline of 0-1 in favour of the Brazilian female team. Their next match is against the Spanish female team.
