Paris 2024: Bello Bows Out After Defeat To French Opponent

Fatimo Bello has been eliminated after losing in straight sets to Jia Nan Yuan of France in round 64 in the women’s singles table tennis event at the Paris Olympics.
Bello’s ouster ended Nigeria’s hopes of winning medals in Table Tennis at the Paris Olympic Games.
In Monday’s women’s singles tie Bello lost 4-0 (1-11, 3-11, 3-11, 5-1).
Bello struggled to keep up with Yuan’s swiftness and precision right from the first set as she scored only a point.
The struggle continued across the successive sets, as Bello failed to score a double-figured point throughout the game.
Since the inception of Table Tennis at the 1988 Olympics, this is the first time that no Nigerian table tennis player registered at least one win.
It was a disappointing outing on Sunday also as Offiong Eden crashed out after also losing 4-0 to Brazil’s Bruna Takahashi (8-11, 4-11, 11-13, 10-12) in the Round of 64).
In the men’s category Quadri Aruna and Olajide Omotayo have also crashed out.
