The Oakleaf Fitness Fiesta 2025 drew a crowd of enthusiastic participants to celebrate health and wellness. The event, which began at 8 AM, offered a variety of activities for all fitness levels, from high-energy warm-up sessions to challenging obstacle courses, strength training, CrossFit, colour games, timed sprints, and endurance plank competitions.

“It was fun actually. I really enjoyed it. It was excellent,” said Mr. Chidi, a fitness enthusiast and returning participant. He added, “Today’s fitness fiesta was awesome, I am very energized actually. I love exercises. I do exercises five times in a week, although today’s exercise is a little more than I usually do at home. So I am really energized.” Chidi confirmed he would “definitely attend the next edition.”

First-time participant Pharm. Onu Victoria expressed her enjoyment of the squatting and dancing sessions. “The experience was energetic,” she said, adding that she “wouldn’t mind spending the whole day and would definitely come to the next event.”

Mercy Jonah, another first-time attendee, also loved the exercises, particularly the games. “The games were super fun,” she shared. “The experience was new to her as she had never participated in a fitness event before, so she can’t wait for the next edition.”

Pharmacist Dipo Adetuyi, MD and CEO of Oakleaf Pharmaceuticals and convener of the event explained the fiesta’s objectives. “The main objective…is basically to sensitize people about the benefits of living a healthy lifestyle, the benefits of working out, the benefits of eating right, and the benefits of fitness, basically, in an aim to help reduce the incidence of non-communicable diseases like hypertension, diabetes, and even cancer,” Adetuyi said.

He emphasized the event’s inclusivity, noting the diverse range of activities and fitness instructors catering to different levels.

“We had three different fitness instructors that were supposed to handle three different levels,” he explained. “We had a dance instructor, which even children were here, they could also participate. And even we have some elderly people here too that also participated throughout the whole workout session, so it wasn’t rigorous, and it wasn’t too stressful.”

Adetuyi highlighted the additional health benefits offered at the fiesta. “At this event as well, we have Doctors and Pharmacists who are also here to do blood pressure checks, cholesterol checks, diabetes checks, and all that,” he said. He hopes participants will adopt healthier lifestyles after the event. “The most important thing is that we are also, from this event, by the activities that have been done, the workouts that have been done, we hope that people go out of this event and take home that lifestyle,” he added.

He deemed the event a success, citing the impressive turnout. “Even when we were registered, people were asked to register online. We actually had to stop the portal because there were loads of people that wanted to come that couldn’t make it here,” Adetuyi revealed. “People have been here since 8 o’clock. It’s almost noon and people are still here. More people are still coming.”

Looking to the future, Adetuyi expressed plans to expand the event beyond Lagos. “The aim is to take it outside Lagos,” he confirmed. “We are planning that we’ll do another edition and most likely we’ll take it outside Lagos so basically we are thinking about Ibadan or Abuja.”
