Plateau grabs seven medals in 72 hours
Plateau State athletes, at the weekend, swept multiple medals at the ongoing Eighth National Youth Games in Asaba, Delta State. The state registered its presence on the medals table in grand style, winning seven medals on Day Three, out of which four were gold, two silver, and a bronze medal, bringing their total after three days of competition to eight.
Ten-year-old, Yeipyeng Chollom, in Taekwondo, set the tone for the medals’ haul after a thrilling display in the female poomse event to win two gold medals.
Iverson Eric followed suit in the male category of the same event, capturing one gold and a silver.
Gyang Sunday Davwi, extracted gold in the boy’s 1,500m race, while Nerat Sambo got a silver in the women’s 1,500m race.
Team Plateau had made a good showing in weightlifting, which concluded its events on Saturday.
Veirat Dachollom grabbed the bronze medal for Team Plateau in the 49kg class, snatch.
