Rohr wary of putting pressure on Eagles
Super Eagles Manager, Gernot Rohr says he would try as much as possible to avoid putting pressure on his team ahead of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations scheduled for Egypt in June, reports adantesports.com.
Recent reports in the media indicate that Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has given Rohr the mandate to win this year’s AFCON, but the Eagles handler is wary of putting pressure on his youthful team.
The Eagles coach said his team are capable of winning the competition in Egypt if they prepared well and are in good shape, as well as well motivated. He added, however, that it was too early to assume that the Eagles could just go to the competition and win.
“My ambition with this team is to go to Egypt and make a great AFCON. We are number four in Africa now and want to go higher with players who are even younger than the ones we paraded in the World Cup.
“We all would like to win the AFCON but I avoid to put too much of pressure on our young players,” Rohr said.
