“Kick-off is now delayed until at least 4.30pm (1530 GMT),” Spurs said on their official Twitter page, having earlier announced a delay of 15 minutes.
Second-place Tottenham are bidding to keep pace with league leaders Leicester City, while United are seeking to close the gap on fourth-place Manchester City in the race for Champions League qualification.
