He noted that OBN academy quest to continue training and discovering young talented basketball players, male and female across Nigeria, would continue to be its main objective.

“After training and working hard in OBN academy for just three months Chinemerem, Iwuno and Obinna proved to the coaches that they are exceptional talents that need more exposure to realise their basketball dreams in America. Spoting them as a talented basketball players was not a problem for the coaches base on their vast experience in coaching.” Chinemerem was given two years scholarship, Iwuno, who is the youngest, got four years and Obinna three years. They are expected to get the required grades in their studies and basketball training to promote them to higher level of studies, which will eventually pave way for them to get drafted to the NBA in the future.

He said: “The academic session in Mount Zion Christian Academy will resume in September. Basketball is big business and I believe there are more young talents to be unearth at OBN, who will also have the privilege to earn scholarship abroad.”

Ekezie, however, enjoined the students to be good ambassadors of the country, while embarking on the scholarship program in America.

“The players should realise that if they are caught taking drugs, the school will not hesitate to expel them. Avoiding distractions of women and other social vices. If I did not focus on my studies and training, I would not be able to make it to the NBA.”
