‘FAMOUS’ Eric Uche Freeborn Atasia, widely known as Eric Atasia, has released his new single, Famous. Unveiled on November 20, 2024, the song, according to the artiste, promises to be another favourite of fans.
With an infectious beat and soulful vocals, Famous captures the essence of admiration and connection, wrapped in Eric’s signature Afro-fusion style. The song’s theme, which centres on celebrating and protecting a loved one, is a nod to Eric’s signature focus on heartfelt, relatable themes.
Now based in the United Kingdom, Eric Atasia is embarking on an exciting new chapter in his career, introducing his distinct Afro-fusion sound to UK audiences. His journey from Port Harcourt to Lagos, and now to the UK, is one of passion, resilience, and relentless pursuit of his craft.
Born and raised in Port Harcourt, his musical journey began early, however, his professional career took off in 2015. Since then, he’s emerged as a multi-talented force — singing, songwriting, and producing — allowing him to create music that is uniquely his own.
Eric’s talents first gained national recognition in 2019 with the release of his single, Temporary; a breakout hit that secured extensive airplay on major Nigerian stations such as Cool FM, Wazobia FM, and SoundCity FM.
This early success showcased his ability to connect with listeners through stories of love and resilience, establishing him as a fresh voice in Nigerian music.
Following his relocation to Lagos in 2019, he broadened his reach, sharing the stage with respected Nigerian artists such as MI Abaga, Johnny Drille and Ric Hassani. His collaborative work with Afro-Classical musician, Teekay Classic, on singles such as Better, Stay and Restless demonstrated his versatility and solidified his presence in Nigeria’s music industry.

In addition to working with acclaimed artistes, Eric’s live performances have also seen him share stages with heavyweights such as Praiz and The Cavemen.
