Event deejay
Are you an audiophile and have a collection of different genres of music? If your answer is in the affirmative, then you can make money deejaying at events. All that is required is the self assurance to face the crowd, a good sound system and the aptitude to synchronise two or three different music into one without the music flow losing its vibe.
You can start this by organising gig in your campus or playing-for-free at a friend’s birthday party or other events. The import of this is that it exposes your avocation and dexterity to blend music to your peers and guests, who might need your services.
Though, there are different places to carry out this pastime money making venture, it is always proper to choose a place that would not have any negative influence on your person or education. While some would go for hotels and eateries, running their mid-week and weekend jams, it would be ideal for a student to attend school and corporate events.
In a few weeks, nursery, primary and secondary schools across the country would be rounding off this year’s academic session, which is hallmarked by parties. Many of these schools use the end of year event, as avenue to socialise with parents and people living around their immediate communities and also advertise their schools. In the light of this, proprietors/ proprietresses need DJs that do not only know the latest music in town, but can thrill teens, parents and their guests very well.
As a student, this becomes an opportunity to earn extra income, because proprietors/proprietresses would be pleased to deal with you once there is a proof that you can handle a good event, instead of going for costly professional entertainers.
One of the reasons for this is that your choice of music will be simple and harmless, and you have the right approach to deal with pupils, teachers and parents.
Apart from schools, corporate organisations use this period to reward their numerous customers, so reaching out to them with your proposal, letting them know you could handle campus gigs would be a plus for you to get some jobs too.
Remember, you can also meet the executives of the various campus-based social clubs to organise campus or off campus events. Aside serving as medium for the students to ease off academic tension, you could as well make money from sales of tickets.
Though some people hold the opinion that DJ job is for bad boys/girls, this is not true, because good and cool music could relax the mind, and no bad boy/girl can serve anything good. People holding this view need to be shown the importance of music in any social events, including learning. Do not allow the opinions of others to derail you from making money this season.
You may be thinking of having big speakers to start, do not let that worry you, as the speakers could be outsourced from record boutiques in the street. But arm yourself with the necessary equipment such as laptop and USB that have all your recorded music. These are sizeable materials that can be easily carried in handbag.
