Beloved, it has become a common knowledge to observe that wherever God’s work is ongoing, there will Satan go to steal the joy of the brethren, dampen their faith and destroy the progress of the good work.

These he has been doing in churches, revival camp meetings and in other godly exercises.

Whenever a Church decides to rise above the mundane things of this world, Satan will appear to accuse the brethren.

When anybody opts to do the work of God, Satan will appear to attack in order to hinder the progress.

In these last days, his agents are at work persecuting and beheading the faithful, instilling fear in believer’s life and sorrow for no other reason than to discourage them from serving their God.

Devil as the thief has no other stock in trade than to plunder and cause sorrow.

All he does is to attack the faith of brethren through sickness, disease, failure, poverty; barrenness and even the death of loved ones.

All his wickedness is to ensure believers sin against God and go to hell. But God forbid.

This is the reason believers are daily warned not to be ignorant of the devices of the devil, for offence must surely come in divers’ ways but it should not daunt their pledge to remain faithful to God in holiness regardless of any adverse situation.

In the Bible days, Job was not only so rich and great, but so good, and had such an interest both in heaven and earth.

But a day came that the sons of God and Job went to present themselves to God and Satan appeared with one and only aim to scuttle whatever may be the blessing Job would receive from God.

Job 1:6, 10-11 says, “Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan came also among them ….9 Then Satan answered the LORD, and said, Doth Job fear God for nought?

10 Hast not thou made an hedge about him, and about his house, and about all that he hath on every side?

Thou hast blessed the work of his hands, and his substance is increased in the land.

11 But put forth thine hand now, and touch all that he hath, and he will curse thee to thy face.”

The reason for devil’s appearance was to torment Job and he succeeded but Job remained steadfast in holiness and righteousness.

When our Lord Jesus Christ’s ministry began to blossom, Satan led Judas to betray Him so that the good work of God would cease.

Judas, one of the twelve apostles was used to offend the work of God so that mankind would not receive salvation.

John 13:2 says, “And supper being ended, the devil having now put into the heart of Judas Iscariot, Simon’s son, to betray him.”

In the days of the Apostles, when Peter and John preached and healed a lame man from birth at the Beautiful Gate and more than 5000 souls were converted to the chagrin of the devil. Satan reacted by inciting the religious authorities to arrest them so they could cease from preaching the gospel.

Beloved, the devil’s appearance at the scene of godly work continues till date.
