For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.” (KJV).

Peace is at the heart of what everyone wants. We all want peace– peace in the world, peace in our lives, and peace in our relationships, and we’ll do just about anything to get it.

Have you ever wondered how much effort and time have been deployed all over the world trying to achieve peace? But unfortunately, very little has been achieved, despite all the negotiations and efforts. And the cry for world peace is a question that is hanging over many nations today.

The United Nations was birthed in 1945, with the sole purpose of searching for a safer and more peaceful alternative to solving international issues than violence and warfare.

Individually as well, man is chasing peace in his life. I suppose he is willing to pay any price, yet he is not finding it because he is looking for it in the wrong place.

Peace is a calm quiet assurance and confidence that no matter what is happening around you, the God of the universe has not lost control. Jesus said: “In Me you may have peace” (John 16:33). Jesus also told His disciples, “My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Do not let your heart be troubled, nor let it be fearful.” (John 14:27).

One of the reasons Jesus was born was to give peace to the world. In John 14:27, Jesus said to His disciples, “My peace I give to you; not as the world gives…” It means that the “peace” that the world gives lacks the capacity to truly restore peace and harmonious relationship in the society. No wonder the world is still crying for peace, despite efforts made at the United Nations level and at other international plane to restore peace to the world. The only peace that the world can offer is a cessation of war, which we have seen time and time again fail.

Jesus is the answer to the world yearning for peace. Mathew 1:21 says, “And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name Jesus: for he shall save his people from their sins.” (KJV)

Another qualification that places Jesus above other peace agents in the world is that Jesus is sinless (2 Corinthians 5:21). Jesus who never sinned was made an offering for our sins.

In Revelation Chapter 5, John was in the Island of Patmos and saw a revelation of the scroll with 7 seals on it.

An Angel proclaimed with a loud voice, “Who is worthy to open the book, and to loose the seals thereof?” John wept bitterly because no one, not even the world strongest ruler was able to open, read and look at the scroll, which contained the plan for man’s redemption from sin. Is there no person who can help rule the world and direct the world on what is next?

In Jerusalem, the city known as “The city of peace,” there is continual conflict and war. Here’s a city claimed by most every religion out there, but not only do they not get along with one another, but they have failed to find a solution.

As John was still caught up in the revelation, an Angel spoke to him and said, “Weep not: behold, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, hath prevailed to open the book, and to loose the seven seals thereof” (Revelation 5:5). Praise the Lord! Jesus is the only One Who has the authority to restore peace to the world.

Isaiah said His name is the Prince of Peace, Hallelujah! Jesus is here today to give you peace to triumph every life challenges. Accept Him into your life today, and you will experience the peace that only Jesus gives.

Today’s Nugget: Jesus is the only Worthy Man.

Prayer: I accept the Prince of Peace into my life today in Jesus Name, Amen.
