Troops bust criminal syndicate in Taraba, arrest 10

• COAS lauds Tinubu for support

Troops of headquarters of the 6 Brigade Nigerian Army/ Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS) in Taraba have busted a criminal syndicate in the state. The feat, which was achieved in conjunction with security agencies, was reported to have led to the arrest of 10 suspects.

A statement by the Assistant Director 6 Brigade Army Public Relations, Captain Oni Olubodunde, has it that the operations took place in the early hours of yesterday. Apart from the arrest, items announced to have been recovered from the suspects include an AK 47 rifle and 33 rounds of ammunition.

The operations, it added took place at Galeri and Kwondo villages of Ardo-Kola and Bali council areas following a tip-off from a credible source.
ALSO, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt.-Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja, has lauded President Bola Tinubu for the support to the Army and the confidence he has reposed in him, the officers and the rank and file.

Lagbaja spoke at the opening of the Project Management Workshop 2024, organised by the Nigerian Army Special Projects for the Nigerian Army Project Officers yesterday in Makurdi, with the theme: ‘Promoting Innovation and Adaptability in Project Management in the Nigerian Army.’

Represented by the Commander 4 Special Forces, Major General Hilary Nzan, the COAS reiterated the commitment of officers and soldiers of the Nigerian Army to continue to defend the Constitution of the country at all times and in all conditions.

He enjoined the participants to take maximum advantage of the workshop to build their capacities and develop competencies, adding that they should adopt the right attitude in carrying out their responsibilities as Nigerian Army project officers.

Coordinator of the Nigerian Army Special Projects, Major General Shamsideen Shafaru, disclosed that the aim of the workshop was to inculcate the required skills in the project personnel, considering the evolving economic and environmental challenges threatening project execution in the country.
