Zamfara governor lauds Tinubu for signing NWDC bill into law

Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal, has commended President Bola Tinubu for signing the North-West Development Commission (NWDC) Bill into law. On Tuesday, President Tinubu signed bills creating the North-West Development Commission (NWDC) and the South-East Development Commission (SEDC).

In a statement on Thursday in Gusau, the governor’s spokesperson, Sulaiman Bala Idris, said the NWDC would bring significant development opportunities to the region. Governor Lawal expressed hope that the NWDC would commence operations swiftly to address the long years of underdevelopment suffered by the area.

“I sincerely thank President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for signing the North-West Development Commission Bill into law,” Lawal stated. “This demonstrates the President’s concern for the deeply distressed people of the North-West region who have endured years of banditry and related crimes.”

Governor Lawal highlighted that the NWDC’s primary purpose includes rebuilding roads, houses, and businesses destroyed during the crises that have plagued the region.

Additionally, the commission aims to address poverty, low literacy levels, ecological problems, and other barriers hindering the development of the North-West states.

“The North-West Development Commission is being established to help rebuild roads, houses, and businesses destroyed during the crises that affected the region,” said Lawal. “Its purpose also includes addressing poverty, low literacy levels, ecological problems, and other barriers to developing the North-West states.”

Governor Lawal emphasised the effective collaboration among the governors of the North-West states and expressed optimism about the positive impact of the NWDC. “The Governors of the North-West have been collaborating effectively and establishing the North-West Development Commission is a positive step. We will work together to ensure its success.”

The creation of the NWDC is seen as a crucial move to revitalise the North-West region, which has suffered from years of banditry and related criminal activities. By addressing the infrastructural and socio-economic challenges, the NWDC aims to foster sustainable development and improve the quality of life for the people in the region.
