Nollywood actress Ekene Umenwa welcomes first child

Nigerian actress Ekene Umenwa and her husband, Ifeanyi Alex, have welcomed their first child after being married in 2023.

The movie star took to her official Instagram page to break the great news to Nigerians on September 2.

Ekene, known for her captivating performances in numerous Nollywood films, has been sharing glimpses of her pregnancy journey with her fans on social media.

Her followers have been sending well wishes and expressing their excitement for the new addition to her family.

While Ekene has not disclosed the gender of her child, she has mentioned how blessed she feels to be a mother. Her fans are eager to learn more about the baby and see adorable photos as the child grows.

Ekene also took to the caption of the video to praise God for the gift of childbirth, and she also honoured Mother Mary in line with her Catholic faith.

“I am truly blessed by the Lord’s mercy. My pregnancy journey was a wonderful experience, and I give praise to the Blessed Trinity and honour to our Mother Mary, who stood by me throughout.

The actress then explained her reason for dressing like the Virgin Mary in her child’s maternity pictures she posted online.

“I was inspired by a vision she gave me while praying at the grotto. It brings me immense joy to be able to dress as Mother Mary, whom I hold dear. Although I feel unworthy to stand in her presence, her mercy has touched me deeply.”
