The Office of the Surveyor-General of the Federation(OSGoF) has partnered with Focus Guide Map and Directory Nigeria Ltd (FGMD) to deliver geospatial business mapping in Nigeria.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that FGMD, a leading technology solutions provider, sought the partnership to leverage the facilities of the OSGoF to deliver business listing and address verification projects in the country.
Mr. Abuduganiyu Adebomehin, the Surveyor-General, said the partnership will offer Nigeria a unique opportunity for entrepreneurs to operate their businesses with accurate data using a geospatial information system.
Adebomehin who was represented by Director, of Infrastructure Survey, Sally Ekegbo, also said, that the partnership would go a long way in revolutionizing the way and manner businesses are listed and verified in the country.
”The project seeks to transform the way businesses are registered, verified, and regulated in Nigeria, making it easier for entrepreneurs to start and operate businesses.
”While providing accurate data for economic planning, policy-making, and decision-making by government agencies, we are excited to partner with Focus Guide Nigeria Limited to deliver this critical project.
”Our goal is to create a robust and reliable platform that will drive economic growth, improve the ease of doing business, and enhance the overall business environment in Nigeria.
The Surveyor-General expressed confidence that the project when fully executed will have a significant impact on the economy.
”The project is expected to improve ease of doing business, enhance economic planning and policy-making, Increase revenue generation, job creation, digital economy growth and reduce costs.
”It will also improve infrastructure planning, enhance business visibility, Investor confidence, and competitive advantage.
”The partnership demonstrates the commitment of both organizations to leveraging technology to drive economic development and transformation in Nigeria” he said.
He explained that, the project will create a digital database of businesses and addresses across Nigeria, leveraging on cutting-edge technologies such as Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Geographic Information System (GIS).
Earlier, the Managing Director, Focus Guide Nigeria Limited, Mr. Eddie Chris, said, Nigeria’s digital market presents a vast opportunity with about 41.5 million businesses nationwide.
Chris said, out of 41.5 million businesses, only ten per cent of is utilizing the online platforms, hence the need to develop a robust mechanism to bring them on board.
The Managing Director said the strategic partnership afford him the opportunity to leverage on Surveyor-General’s expertise to create a trusted digital marketplace.
He said their mission is to create comprehensive and accurate online directory of businesses in Nigeria to enhance the country’s business landscape and promote economic growth.
” Our target audience will be businesses operating in Nigeria, consumers, investors, entrepreneurs, government agencies and regulatory bodies as well as research institutions ” Chris said.
