Firm to mass produce solar panels
A firm has unveiled a grassroots scheme aimed at empowering Nigerian youth with solar panel manufacturing skills as well as opportunities within the value chain as part of mass producing solar panels and boosting electricity supply.
Founder, Dawsolar Marketing Company, Darlington Alozie, made this known during a media briefing in Lagos where he disclosed that the firm will train and empower youth on solar panel manufacturing, marketing and its value-chain.
According to him, the scheme will leverage on a partnership initiative between Dawsolar and other solar panel manufacturing firms from India and China. “This is aimed at revamping the minds of people to be part of this. This is because we need to produce the solar panels here as the raw materials are in the country.”
He added that beyond empowering the youth, the scheme also targets helping participants have a career change.
According to Alozie, the empowerment scheme will be hands-on training and exchange of technology. He said the programme is not only focused on marketing solar products across Nigeria; but more of production capacity development for the participants.
He said that Dawsolar is leading the initiative to deepen research in the production of solar materials in Africa; for Africa, and by Africans.
