Researchers at University College, London have made a breakthrough in 6G technology, achieving data transmission speeds of 938 Gbps—over 9,000 times faster than current 5G networks.
By leveraging a wider frequency range from 5 GHz to 150 GHz and combining radio waves with light, they optimized transmission speeds. This incredible speed could allow a 50GB Blu-ray quality movie to be downloaded in just one second, marking a significant step towards the future of ultra-high-speed communication networks.
They achieved this by combining radio and optical technologies, which help avoid overcrowded frequency channels. This breakthrough is expected to lead to ultra-fast 6G networks soon.
With 6G, tasks that take minutes or hours today will be done in seconds. For instance, downloading a 4K Ultra HD movie would take just 0.12 seconds. It will also improve internet speed in crowded places like stadiums and shopping malls, reducing the slowdowns we often experience.
This innovation moves us closer to a future of super-fast, reliable Internet for everyone.
