Women must rise beyond societal expectations to embrace purpose, financial systems, and resilience if they are to fulfil their unique assignments, speakers at the Arabinrin Wellness Conference 2.0 have revealed.
The second edition of the yearly event tagged, “The Sent Woman; Her Purpose, Posture, Positioning”, held in Lagos and convened by Olufunmi Ogunniran, drew professionals, entrepreneurs, and thought leaders into a conversation about identity, calling, and the economic realities shaping women’s lives.
Drawing from deeply personal experiences, the speakers called on participants to reject limiting stereotypes, embrace their current realities, and take responsibility for their growth, spiritually, emotionally, and financially.
Ogunniran, who is also the founder, Arabinrin Fashion Store, said the message behind the conference was anchored on the idea of the “sent woman”, a woman fulfilling her divine assignment irrespective of the phase of life she finds herself in. Ogunniran said too many women have been conditioned to wait for a perfect season before stepping into purpose, a delay she described as unnecessary and self-defeating.
“There are places and seasons that don’t always look like what you hoped for, but even then, you must bloom where you are planted. Whether you are in a season of silence, childcare, career growth, or transition, it doesn’t make you less. Stay rooted in God and find fulfilment in your assignment at every stage,” she said.
Delivering the keynote speech, Dr Irene Olumese, urged women to stop chasing validation and start aligning with the real work of living out their assignment. She stressed that identity is the foundation of purpose, and without it, women risk spending their lives in performance rather than fulfilment.
Olumese challenged the notion that purpose must be loud or glamorous. According to her, the sent woman is defined by action, not applause. She must be a contributor, not a consumer, someone who uses her resources, gifts, and influence to create value and change lives. She called on women to stop waiting for perfect conditions and start building intentionally, even in ordinary circumstances.
Speaking on The Affluence of a S.E.N.T Woman- Make, Manage and Multiply money, A Financial educator and founder of Smart Stewards, Sola Adesakin, urged the women to take control of their finances and build strong systems that support their purpose, saying no assignment can thrive without money.
Adesakin explained that women must stop treating money as a secondary matter and shift from hustle to structure, strategy and sustainability.
“You are not just sent to raise a family or do ministry. You are sent for impact, impact that must be funded. If you weren’t handed a silver spoon, you must manufacture one,” she said.
Using the acronym S.E.N.T (Skillful & systems, Education, Network and Technology), she called on women to be intentional about their growth, relationships and use of digital tools.
She said many women work hard but repeat the cycle of effort without results because they don’t build systems. “Our mothers had resilience, but no structure. We must do better,” she said.
Adesakin added that wealth is not measured by earnings, but by what is built over time. “The goal is not to impress but to be secure. Your resources should fund your vision and your future. You are a SENT woman. Be strategic. Build well. And stop making excuses,” she added.
