Princess Olatubosun: Building communities, changing Lives beyond charity

PRINCESS

Princess Marylove Ifedoyin Adenike Olatubosun, is the founder of Ifedoyin & Friends Charity Organisation (IFECO), believes that Empowerment, is not a trend-it is a heritage.

“Helping people is a family legacy from generations to generations,” she says, a simple yet powerful belief that has grown into a life of service and impact.

As the founder of Ifedoyin & Friends Charity Organisation (IFECO), she has transformed compassion into a structured movement focused on health advocacy, social justice, and community empowerment.

Her name is popularly known as Ifedoyin in humanitarian circles-a name symbolising love and sweetness like honey came to represent the foundation name IFECO, Princess Marylove’s work reflects that meaning. Built on sacrifice, empathy, and shared humanity, IFECO began as a family initiative and has evolved into a wide network of friends, partners, and supporters-many of whom were once strangers, now united by purpose.

Her life is shaped by legacy and loss. She was born in the early 1980s in Akure, Ondo State, with roots in the Osupa ruling house and ties to Okene in Kogi State, Princess Marylove grew up in a polygamous family as one of seven siblings. Her upbringing instilled resilience, adaptability, and a deep sense of community.

Her life journey has been shaped by both love and loss. Having lost her father 26 years ago and her mother in December 2025, she now carries forward the enduring values her parents left behind-chief among them, the importance of education and compassion. “Education was one of our parents’ greatest legacies,” she reflects.

That legacy is evident in her impressive academic path. She has studied across multiple institutions including OAU, LASU, UNILAG, UNN, LUTH, and the University of Ghana, alongside international training in trauma and counselling. A multi-disciplinary professional, she is certified in accounting, administration, health psychology, counselling, community health, and more, while also expressing her creativity as a filmmaker and actress.

The foundation is building communities, changing lives through IFECO, Princess Marylove leads interventions that touch lives at the grassroots level. The organisation operates through three core pillars: health intervention, advocacy, and community development.

From medical outreach programs, screenings, and medication distribution to awareness campaigns addressing gender-based violence, child abuse, drug abuse, trafficking, and domestic violence, the foundation continues to provide both care and protection. It also runs sanitation drives and empowerment initiatives, particularly for primary school students.

As IFECO prepares for its 16th community outreach and anniversary celebrations, its mission remains focused,-breaking silence, challenging stigma, and reinforcing that health is a fundamental human right. We are empowering voices, restoring hope. At the heart of the organisation is a commitment to empowering women and youth.

However, through mentorship programs, skill acquisition, and quarterly gatherings, IFECO creates safe spaces for growth, dialogue, and transformation. It also ensures inclusivity, extending opportunities to persons with disabilities and underserved communities. “We want people to understand that women and youth are not just victims-they are strong individuals who can rise, rebuild, and lead,” she says.

Her advocacy also pushes a shift in mindset-from silence to awareness, from stigma to support, and from dependency to empowerment.

There are challenges but with strong will to continue, despite its impact, the organisation faces ongoing challenges, particularly limited funding and societal attitudes that often silence victims.

“We are not the best, but we are among the best in the line we have chosen. Charity is not a competition-it must come from the heart,” she says.

Currently supported largely by friends and family, she continues to call on government bodies, organisations, and the global community for support. “It is painful to see those we could help remain unhelped,” she adds.

My inspiration comes by real lives, my passion is driven by real experiences-by the silent struggles she has witnessed among women and young people.

One moment stands out: when a young woman found the courage to speak about her abuse during a community outreach. “That moment reminded me that this work is not just about awareness-it is about saving lives and restoring hope,” she recalls.

My life is beyond my humanitarian work, Princess Marylove disclosed that she is an entrepreneur, running a fabric and fashion business that distributes materials such as Atiku, Senator fabrics, Jacquard, and Swiss voile, alongside jewelry, to clients within and beyond Nigeria.

She describes herself as friendly, principled, goal-driven, and deeply human-centered-an ambivert who connects easily with people. In her leisure time, she enjoys swimming, traveling, shopping, cooking, researching, and watching detective and medical dramas, while maintaining a strong personal devotion to God.

Though single, she proudly refers to herself as “a mother of many children,” reflecting the countless lives she nurtures through her work. Her philosophy is simple yet profound: live with purpose, show compassion, and make a positive impact-no matter how small.

In a world often driven by recognition, Princess Marylove Olatubosun stands as a reminder that true service is quiet, consistent, and deeply rooted in love. From a family legacy of giving to a growing movement of change, she is not just helping people-she is building communities, restoring dignity, and giving voice to the unheard.
