LET US DEREGULATED THE DOWN STREAM OIL SECTOR NOW-STOP OIL SUBSIDY.
I am convinced beyond reasonable doubt that the oil sector labour leadership has been compromised; they are now part ofd the Subsidy Cartel, knowingly or unknowingly. When the labour leaders speak on the subsidy issue, they speak from the two sides of their mouth. On the one hand they agree the whole thing is a scam. On the other hand they do not want the subsidy to be removed. They keep talking about fixing the refineries and getting them to work efficiently, a solution they know the country has embarked on for decades and that has not worked.

They are worried about the refineries being privatised because they feel people in government will sell the national assets to their friends. At the same time they pretend to fight for their workers who will lose their jobs if the refineries are sold. Very well. Le the Government deregulate the sector, keep the refineries and run them in a deregulated environment side by side with private refineries that private investors will set up. That way, the national assets will not be sold off, the workers in the government refineries will not lose their jobs and Nigerian will take their destiny in the own hands in a deregulated market where demand and supply will determine how much Nigerians pay for petroleum products.

The Trillions of Naira which the three levels of government, Federal, State and Local governments contribute to the subsidy nonsense will be available for other social services like education and health, among others that are begging for funding. The bottom line is that the subsidy thing has been a scam in all these decades and only a handful of selfish individuals have benefited from it the the detriment of millions of Nigerians.

The labour leaders cannot continue to pull the wool over our eyes. The scam must stop and the time is now. For anybody who wants to educate himself/herself on the extent of this scam, all you need do is go to the website of NEITI and read the Audited Reports of our Oil Sector since 2007. Any patrotic Nigerian will weep for this country. For how long must we suffer the fool?
